Lidl Hungary has inaugurated a sprawling logistics hub in Kiskunfélegyháza, marking a significant investment of nearly 60 billion forints, equivalent to approximately €162 million. This newly established facility stands as the largest warehouse under Lidl’s operation in Hungary, poised to enhance the supply chain for around 70 retail outlets throughout the country. With a footprint exceeding 83,000 square meters, the center has already generated over 400 employment opportunities, and the company anticipates recruiting an additional 50 personnel in the foreseeable future.

This state-of-the-art logistics center is equipped with 194 loading docks, coupled with a substantial 24,000-square-meter area dedicated to refrigeration. It is designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating a 9,000-square-meter solar panel installation on the rooftop and an innovative system that recycles waste heat from refrigeration processes to provide underfloor heating. In addition, a 10,000-square-meter area surrounding the facility has been cultivated as a biodiverse green space, further underscoring Lidl’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

The strategic development of this logistics center is set to bolster Lidl’s supply network across Hungary, with an impressive 4,500 pallets of goods projected to be dispatched from the facility daily. This expansion aligns with Lidl’s operational strategy, as the retailer continues to grow its footprint in Hungary, where it currently operates 220 stores. Notably, Lidl sources nearly 60% of its products locally from Hungarian suppliers, reinforcing its role in supporting domestic agriculture and production.

By investing in this extensive logistics infrastructure, Lidl aims to fortify its market presence and streamline its distribution capabilities within the region. The facility not only signifies a leap in operational capacity but also reflects Lidl’s broader objectives of sustainability and efficiency in logistics. As the company positions itself for future growth, this development marks a pivotal step in enhancing its service delivery and meeting the increasing consumer demands across Hungary.
